ACIM Forgiveness Process
acim forgiveness process is a metaphysical technique that depends on, and operationalises, the spiritual theory of ACIM. It recognises that the source of any upset is always within you.
This forgiveness process helps to undo the ego and prepare you for going home. It starts with true forgiveness, which is really about healing your acim entrenched belief that you are a body.
The first step
The first step in the acim forgiveness process is to recognize that any problem you have is always caused by your own thoughts and beliefs. This is an important realization, because it helps you understand that the world of illusory form around you only reflects what you are believing at the unconscious level of your mind.
This makes it essential to practice forgiveness, so you can release the entrenched belief that you are a body that is irretrievably entangled in an unsolvable knot of sacrifice and suffering. This is the basis of all of your problems in this life.
Forgiveness, then, is the process of seeing this truth, and it is not something that comes easily to most people. You may need to work at it, and you may want to do this by practicing with a group or seeking the help of a counselor trained in ACIM. You may also want to write in a journal, use guided meditation or prayer, or talk with an impartial friend or loved one.
Eventually, the three steps of the forgiveness process will blend into one, and you will be doing them automatically, without having to think much about them at all. It takes determination and discipline, but it is worth the effort because it will bring you peace.
When you have the right mindset, you will be able to forgive anyone who has hurt you or upset you. You will see that they are simply a reflection of your own beliefs, and you can accept the fact that they have no real power over you in this world, regardless of what they have done. In the end, you will be free of their negative influence and will be returning to your true home, which is God's Love. You will know you have accomplished this when you feel the peace of true forgiveness.
The second step
In order to do true forgiveness, it is necessary to understand and accept resistance. This is what the Course calls “realising your fear.” The purpose of ACIM is to prepare you to go home by undoing your ego and allowing the Holy Spirit to become the dominant force, and eventually the only force in your mind. However, it takes a lot of willingness, earnest diligence and constant repetition to get there. It can feel like one step forward and three steps backwards at times. But it is worth the effort. The rewards are great, not just in terms of peace and love within yourself, but also in your relationships with others. The world will benefit as well. The benefits are tangible and immediate. The only question is whether you are up for the challenge.
The third step
During this step, you hand your problem over to God, or universal energy. This is an instantaneous shift, as soon as you complete steps one and two. This means that you give up on your own ability to solve your problems and let the power of love and forgiveness work for you instead.
The last step is to ask Holy Spirit, or the bridge between your mind and God’s, for guidance every day. This is a powerful practice that helps you recognize your true nature and remember your true home. When you rely on the help of Spirit, it is impossible to remain upset for long.
The practice of forgiveness is not easy, as anyone who has tried it can attest. It requires great willingness, earnest diligence and daily repetition. But it is worth the effort because it is the fastest way to reawaken to what you really are-perfect, whole and innocent. And it is the only path that leads to peace in this world and in heaven. So do yourself a favor and get started on it today!
The fourth step
The final step is to ask the Holy Spirit for guidance every day. This is an important practice because it allows you to bring the forgiveness process directly into your everyday life. It requires great willingness, earnest diligence, and constant repetition to be successful. But it will pay off in the end.
When a situation arises that triggers you, think of it as an opportunity to forgive. Remember that you are only upset because of a decision you made. Then choose to change your decision by prioritising love. If you do that, the true solution to your problem will automatically present itself. This is because change occurs at the level of cause (the mind and your thoughts) rather than effect (the world of illusory form). This is the power that ACIM forgiveness brings to your life.
