For over 2000 years, the question of who Jesus is has been debated and disputed. It remains as central to western civilization as it ever was.
It's a difficult and confusing question to answer. But it's one that who is jesus must be answered if you're going to know the truth about your Savior.
What is the Bible?
The Bible, also called the Word of God, is a collection of sacred writings that have been accepted by Christians as authoritative for their faith and life since the fourth century of the Common Era (the years after Christ's birth). It contains two major sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament.
The Old Testament is a collection of stories and laws that were written down by the prophet Moses. It was written in Hebrew, a language that has been used for centuries to write religious texts. It describes the history of the first peoples of the world, explains the origins of Israel and its traditions, and describes how God promises to use them to bless the rest of the world.
It was written by men and women from all walks of life, and some of them lived thousands of years ago in times and places completely different to our own. They were businessmen and traders, farmers and fishermen, tentmakers, soldiers and physicians, scribes, preachers and kings.
Many of the stories in the Bible were passed down orally for many generations before they were written down. But in time they were written down by various people who were inspired by God to put words to the stories.
In addition to the main books of the Bible, there are a number of other writings that were not part of the main canon but that still carry spiritual value. These are called apocrypha.
These writings are often used to help explain the Christian faith, but they are not necessarily authoritative. They were not intended to be read out of context. That's why it's important to pay attention to the overall context of all of the Bible.
What is the Gospels?
The Gospels are eyewitness accounts of the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They are a central part of the Christian faith, which is based on the belief that Jesus was the son of God.
Each of the four Gospels tells a different story about Jesus' ministry, and each was written to speak to a specific audience. For example, Matthew wrote to Jews and religious people; Mark spoke to Romans; and Luke wrote to Greeks who wanted to know more about their culture, beauty, and ideas.
In most cases, the Gospels were written in the mid-second century following the death and resurrection of Jesus by a group of men who believed that they were eyewitnesses to these events and had been commissioned by God to write down what they had heard. They had the hope that their writing would provide a means for others to hear about Jesus and to join in his mission to save humanity from sin, death, and hell.
Most biblical scholars agree that the Gospels developed through a process that was common for all the writings of the Bible. In this process, proto-gospels, which were written collections of stories about specific events in the lives of people, were combined with a still-current oral tradition into a series of books that form the core of the New Testament.
In the earliest times of the Church, these gospels were used as authoritative texts for worship, teaching, and discipleship. During the early Christian era, they were also important sources for legal and divine witness on behalf of covenant-keepers and against covenant-breakers.
What is the Book of Acts?
The Book of Acts is one of the most important books in the Bible. It shows how Jesus commissioned His disciples to go and evangelize the world. It also tells us how they did that. This is why it is so valuable to our church, and why it’s also a great book for all of us to read.
It is written by an apostle of Christ named John. It consists of twenty-five chapters and was likely written in the late first century CE. It contains a number of controversial passages, but its message is not controversy but the empowering grace of God through Jesus Christ.
Some of the more popular verses include "Go, and teach all nations." And, “I have many other things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now” (John 20:30-31); and, "And I will write unto you what I have said, and you shall bear witness." It is a document that clearly demonstrates the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those who come to trust in Jesus as their Savior.
The book of Acts has a number of interesting features that make it stand out from the other Gospels. For example, there are a lot of accounts of miracles that were performed by Jesus before he was twelve years old.
There are also a number of accounts of the trials and crucifixion of Jesus. These were not included in the canonical version of the Gospels.
In addition, the Book of Acts records Paul’s visits to many cities. His mission was to evangelize the Gentiles and he did that with great success (Acts 9:15-17). He also wrote several letters to churches, including some very famous ones.
What is the Book of Revelation?
The Book of Revelation is the final book of the Bible. It contains a series of prophetic visions that were given to the apostle John while he was on the island of Patmos. He was commissioned to write them down for the seven churches of Asia (Revelation 1:1-9).
The book is written in a type of writing called apocalyptic literature. These kinds of writings reveal the secrets of heaven and try to predict how human history will end. They usually divide the world into two parts--one good, one evil--and tell how the good part will defeat the evil part. They also tell of a future re-creation that will take place when God's kingdom is finally re-established on earth.
Christians have used Revelation for centuries to help them understand the events that will happen at the end of time. The book shows that Jesus will eventually heal the wounds of sin, reign on earth for a thousand years, and then re-create the world into a place that reflects God's original design.
Many Christian scholars believe that the book was written in the late first century during the reign of Emperor Domitian. During this period, the church experienced a great deal of persecution and John wrote this book to encourage believers in their faith.
It is also believed that the book was written to help Christians prepare for Christ's return to the earth, after which all of the dead will be raised to life and believers will live with Jesus forever. This will be a time of great judgment, during which those who reject Christ will suffer deeply.
Although the Book of Revelation is difficult to read and understand, it is one of the most powerful and inspiring books in the Bible. The truths it contains are not based on adopting a particular point of view, so the book is accessible to anyone who will read it for its overall message and resist the temptation to become overly enamored with the details.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the most important figure in Christianity, the world's largest religion. Christians believe he is the incarnation of God the Son and the awaited Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament, and that through his death and resurrection, humanity can be reconciled to God.
He is also the center of Christian teachings, which emphasize a life of God-focused worship and service. These teachings focus on his incarnation, active obedience, substitutionary atonement, resurrection, ascension, and continual intercession for his followers.
One way to answer this question is to look at what the Gospels say about Jesus. They record his words, works, and character in a sequence that is intended to help people understand who he is.
The gospels, written by Luke and John, portray Jesus as a prophet-Messiah sent to bring salvation and deliverance. They also include stories of his miracles, frequently with some medical detail, in the context of his teachings to help show how he made the kingdom of God present on earth.
These stories are rich in sign value, meaning they reveal the power of God and his kingdom, the compassion of God and his mercy, and the glory of Christ. They also reveal Jesus' role in bringing the kingdom to earth, as well as his imminent return as judge of the living and the dead.
Using these signs, Christians can learn to know Jesus and trust him to work in their lives and the lives of those around them. They can also discover what he taught, which will guide them to live their own lives according to his example and will.
